F.A.Q.
The Concept
You may choose between three types of house exchange:
A. What is the “simple” exchange?
The “simple” type exchange is an exchange between two parts. Each one loans his house or flat for a period of time previously and jointly agreed. Each one spends a few days or weeks in the other’s house or flat. The exchange is simultaneous.
B. What is the “hospitality” exchange?
Hospitality exchangers stay with you as your guests and then you stay at their home as their guests. It is a great first step to becoming familiar with the idea of home exchange without leaving your possessions to strangers. As a second step, you might like to exchange houses with your guests.
C. What is the “second residence” exchange?
The “second residence” type exchange assumes that some exchange pairs that have a house or flat as a second residence may offer it in exchange. In this case, the exchange may occur at different periods. This way, you will have more freedom when choosing your holidays. (for example: an Irish golfer with a second residence house and who wishes to spend some winter days in Spain, may exchange his own house during Ireland’s spring or summer time. )
D. What are the advantages of the exchange?
One of the first advantages is financial. Imagine the amount of money you will save... Save in hotel rooms, daily dinners in restaurants, car renting.... You will be able to relate more easily, have the time to discover the traditions of the visited regions, and many new golf courses. You will return every night to your “new home” after an exhausting day. Invite some golfer friends to gather in a golf course in one of your multiple homes around the world.
E. Leaving your house or flat in the hands of total strangers?
The exchanges are based on mutual trust and respect. Remember that when they at are your house you are at theirs. Before your departure and the exchange you will have time to speak on the phone, e-mail each other, and ask all the questions considered necessary... they will no longer be strangers coming to your house.
This vacation formula has been working for many years and enjoys and increasing success (which is the best proof of its reliability).
F. Can I exchange if I am a tenant?
Of course you may participate in the exchange of houses, but first you must notify the owner and his insurer.
G. Is it possible to make exchanges within the same country?
Of course exchanges can be carried out within the same country, It is a way of discovering other regions of your own country.

K. Who to contact?
Using our Website you will send a detailed description of what you are offering (your house’s characteristics). Do not forget to put up photographs (the pictures are worth more than a thousand words). Afterwards, determine the availability dates for the exchange (do not be extremely strict regarding availability).
Then make a first selection from the received offers. It is better to respond to all the offers. We suggest to contact various persons at a time and keep in touch with them as much as possible: send pictures, speak on the phone to ensure there is a good understanding, share your doubts and worries...
L. How to contact a member?
First contact with a member will always be made through a contact form that will be sent directly to the member’s e-mail address. He will then respond to your e-mail address. This limits non-desired disclosure of information.
Insurance and Practical Details
M. Practical details of the exchange. Insurance – handing over the keys
First of all, make sure the exchange contract model of the house and / or car is clear, precise and signed. This will help you avoid misunderstandings.
Such models are available here.
1. Insurance – house:
Your exchange partners are your guests. Therefore there should be no problem regarding your insurance.
First we advise you to notify your insurer. Provide him with all the details regarding your exchange partners as well as the dates of the exchange.
Pact an equivalent deductible amount in case of damages. In regard to minimum damages, we advise you to replace it or fix it on your own. In any case, it is best to speak with you insurer and provide him all the necessary information before your departure.
2. Insurance – car:
Car exchange is not mandatory. Also in this case, it is advisable to speak with your insurer regarding the deductible to be paid in case of damages, whatever the liability may be.
3. Handing over the keys:
If possible, it is advisable to have someone receive your exchange partners upon their arrival. On the contrary, leave a telephone number and address where the keys can be delivered.
N. Preparing my departure, preparing my guest’s arrival.
1. Leave a guide for the house and the surroundings. Leave information regarding:
- Places to visit, the surrounding golf courses, good restaurants....
- Operational instructions for all house appliances.
- Possible maintenance of the swimming pool.
- Dates the garbage is picked up.
- - List of relevant telephone numbers (doctor, garage, restaurants, golf, plumber, good friends...)
2. Leave your house clean and return your partner’s house in the same condition as you found it.
3. Leave your car clean and remember to fill up the deposit before your departure. Ask your partners to do the same.
4. Place your valuable objects in a safe, locked-up place. Leave free room in your closets and wardrobes.
5. Notify your neighbours of your guests arrival.
6. Domestic pets: think of finding a solution with enough time in advance in case your exchange partners do not wish to take care of your pets during your absence.
7. Ask somebody to receive your guests upon their arrival or leave them an address where they can find the keys.8. Exchange contract: we advise you to establish an exchange contract (see our models). It will be very useful for avoiding misunderstandings.
